Joint Hazard Response Teams Training in Support of Special Event Venues

Point One recently finished a three-week effort to provide advanced-level training for the Joint Hazard Response Teams (JHRT) in and around metro Atlanta. The training included objectives to support four separate specialty professions who make up each JHRT; EOD/Bomb Technicians, K-9 Teams, Tactical Medics and Civil Support Team (CST)/Hazmat personnel comprise the teams and all provide onsite capability during special events within the Atlanta metro area and require sustainment level training to advance capability when tasked.

This was the first training course that allowed all four elements to completely integrate in a training environment to better learn each other’s capabilities and identify gaps. The training was centered around real world and perceived threat situations for special event venues that allowed optimum practical use of equipment, tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and team-size critical thinking. More than 80 personnel and over 50 K-9s were trained in the three-week period.

The training was a huge success that received accolades across the entire state of Georgia first responder community and will ensure greater capability for Atlanta-hosted major special events such as the NFL Superbowl #53 in February of 2019.
